We hereby attest that the slain Islamic philosophy student NEDA Agha-Soltan, 26, whose bright and beautiful life was prematurely taken away from us in the struggle of the Nation of IRAN for freedom and democracy, independence and justice, did not die in vain. Her legacy will remain alive among the millions of freedom loving people, both in Iran and the world. The painful loss of NEDA, criminally and horrifically inflicted by the forces of evil, typifies the priceless lives of thousands of Iranians who have been killed in the past few decades. They have irrigated the Tree of Freedom in Iran whose fragile roots, limbs and branches are democracy, justice, and equality. This homegrown tree planted over a hundred years ago is the symbol of today’s indigenous “Green Revolution.” The color Green, sacred to Iran and Iranians has been represented as the top color of the national flag and has been glorified in Persian poetry, literature, artistic expression and religion over the past millennium it is the underpinning of Iranian society. The film FOR NEDA reveals the true story of Neda Agha-Soltan, who became another tragic casualty of Iran's violent crackdown on post-election protests on June 20, 2009. Unlike many unknown victims, however, she instantly became an international symbol of the struggle for Iranian democracy.
